The Wistar Institute is a global leader in biomedical research located in West Philadelphia, and their Hubert J. P. Shoemaker Education and Training Center prepares more than 100 students per year for a career in the biomedical sciences. Their leadership retained my services for six months to help plan an expansion of their successful Biomedical Technician Training (BTT) program.
My Approach
Working in conjunction with the program’s leadership, I designed a process to 1.) identify the strengths and essential elements of the existing program, 2.) narrow a number of possible replication strategies down to one optimal path, 3.) vet potential partners, and 4.) re-organize the formal and informal structures to ensure the success of the expansion effort.
Our Results
Since the completion of this work, the BTT has expanded from one to five Community College partners, and nearly doubled the number of overall students served. For more about Wistar’s BTT program and its expansion click here.
