Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles were looking to improve learning in their team-wide, position, and one-on-one meetings.

My Approach

I started by partnering with the team’s leadership to create and deliver workshops on the teaching aspect of coaching that were delivered to the entire staff.  For a self-selected subset of coaches who were motivated to go deeper, we implemented a system where we analyzed video of their position meetings and offered feedback, focusing on “why” and “how” to implement changes that would improve how well players retained the information being taught, which in turn improved performance on the field.

Our Results

While a leadership transition interfered with our efforts to rigorously analyze the results, preliminary data showed that players taught by the coaches who implemented the teaching strategies made fewer mental mistakes on the field than the groups who did not.
