The IDEAS model lies at the heart of my work to teach coaches better ways to teach. These five principles don’t represent the entirety of what excellent teachers do – there are plenty of books and online resources available that do that. Instead these principles capture the highest-leverage scientifically-informed teaching practices someone not formally trained as a teacher, but who needs to teach in their role, can utilize to improve that part of their craft.
